Car Recalls and Convertibles
Recalls
Some cars have had problems which has caused the manufacturer to recall them for work to be done to correct a fault.
If you take your test in one of the cars affected, the examiner needs to see written evidence from the vehicle dealer that the necessary work has been carried out.
Check this DSA page for details of vehicle recalls; this DSA page has details of safety notices.
Here are some cars which have had problems:
- Renault Clio ll/Campus - faulty bonnet catch
- Vauxhall Corsa D New Model - Vauxhall are recalling a number of the new Vauxhall Corsa D model vehicles for safety reasons.
- Ford Fiesta (new Shape 1995-96) - faulty brake hoses
- Ford Fiesta 1989-90 models - faulty seat belt mechanism
- Mazda 121 1998 - faulty brake hoses
- Peugeot 206 - faulty brake linkage
- Vauxhall Corsa - faulty driver and front passenger seat belt locking mechanisms (vehicles built between 1999 and 2000)
Convertibles
To quote the DSA: "DSA’s policy is not to conduct driving tests in vehicles where the examiner’s view is severely restricted. While these may be perfectly safe from a driver’s point of view, the fact is that examiners do not have an acceptable degree of all-round vision."
At present, the DSA will not conduct tests in the Mini convertible and the Ford KA convertible.
Check this DSA page for more information.
